Situated in the Bay Area just outside of San Francisco, Livermore is an historical AVA in Alameda County. Several wine makers have made Livermore their home including Wente Brothers and Concannon. This appellation is similar to the Graves of Bordeaux, France with its gravel soil and plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon (Chardonnay also does well). Although the city is creeping into this area, the producers are not ready to give up, or give in. They continue to produce both still and sparkling wines that please the palate.

Murrieta’s Well
Murrieta’s Well Vineyard was first planted in 1884 and has a long distiguished history. Many of the original vines came from the famous Chateau D'Yquem. One of our favorite Murieta Well's products is their Red Vendimia; produced with 57% Cab Sauv, 24% Merlot, 11% Cab Franc and 8% Zinfandel, and aged in American Oak. It shows the casis character of Cab Franc, the cherries of the Cab Sauv and the raspberry aromas of the Zin. Its body is full, rich and velvety. An excellent choice to compliment Hearty meals and pasta with red sauce.
