Napa Valley in Brief Napa Valley Featured Winery
Napa Valley is by far the best known of all U.S. wine regions and has become one of the largest tourist attractions in California. Napa is a spectacular place to visit not only for its winemaking but also for the wineries themselves. Many of them are architectural wonders and many feature art galleries, botanical gardens, etc. Cabernet Sauvignon still reigns in Napa but other varietals are doing particularly well in the Valley with the realization that not all varietals thrive in the rich warm soil that Cabernet Sauvignon so loves. Economically, Cabernet Sauvignon still fetches the best price, and Napa produces excellent ageworthy Cabernet, so don’t expect to see this varietal lose its dominance. Most Vineyards have traditionally been on the flat valley floor, but with experimentation and research almost all parts of the Valley are viable vineyard land for one particular varietal.
Beaulieu Vineyards (BV)

Beaulieu Vineyard is translated as Beautiful Vineyard in French. This first class operation was founded in 1900 by Frenchman Georges Latour. BV quickly became one of the most well respected Cabernet Sauvignon producers and was a pioneer in many areas. The famed Andre Tchelistcheft was the first to experiment with small oak barrels, and was the first to use American oak during the 1940’s. Today BV does not dominate as it once did but Winemaker Joel Aiken is carrying the torch and changes have happened. BV now blends such grape varietals as Merlot (3%) in their reserve wines, and Tapestry, a meritage wine has been a reatively new innovation that has received much critical acclaim. We believe that Beaulieu Vineyards represents incredibe quality and value at almost all price points. BV Coastal is a great inexpensive wine and is generally a real crowd pleaser and Tapestry(call for availability) is one of our favorites year in and year out.
