Sonoma in Brief Sonoma Featured Winery
Sonoma is a diverse region with a wine to suit any palate imaginable. Zinfandel excels in the Dry Creek area, Pinot Noir in the Russian River, Chardonnay and Cabernet in the Alexander Valley to name just a few. Sonoma for many years is where many of the bulk produced wines came from and suffered under that stigma for many years and now it is thought by many to be one of the best areas if not the best areas for vineyards. Sonoma is still a major food producer and is known for dairies, chickens, and orchards. Many farmstands dot the roads and it tends to be a very laid back friendly place to visit as compared to Napa Valley.

Chateau St. Jean Winery

Chateau St. Jean was founded in 1973 although the Chateau dates back to 1920. We are not the only ones excited by this winery and their high standards across the board. Chateau St. Jean Cinq Cepages was voted the number one wine for 1999 by the “Wine Spectator”. This winery also does an outstanding job with many other varietals especially Chardonnays: at one time they produced nine different Chardonnays. Steve Reeder took over as winemaker in 1997 from the world renowned Richard Arrowood. Chateau St. Jean sources grapes from many different vineyards and are masters of rating and blending these grapes effectively.
